WordPress FeedBurner Feed HTTP 404/500 Error Resolved
Recently you might have noticed a sudden surge in feed delivery from EchoBlogger. As I said that I dint have time to make posts in this blog right from October, I didn’t find time to fix my feed delivery problem.
I noticed after quite a long time that my feeds are not getting updated. At first I thought this is all because of the reason that I recently updated my WordPress to 2.9 or with the recently activated WordPress plugins. Also I updated my WordPress Theme. Even then the problem is not solved. As a result, my subscribers are unable to receive blog updates daily through feedburner.
I was getting this error.
An error occurred connecting to the URL: Error getting URL: 404 – Not Found
when I tried to edit the feed URL in my FeedBurner account. There I shown some hint that there is problem with the feed. So I tried FeedValidator that showed me that my feed is an invalid one.It returned this error.
Server returned HTTP Error 500: Internal Server Error

What is this error? You will get such error only when the server didn’t find any thing for that request.
This made me to worry a lot. I rechecked all my WordPress files and every thing was fine. But what is the problem?? No one knows at that time who was the real culprit. Later I found that its me who made some changes to .htaccess file.
Yes its the .htaccess file that had some bugs. If you want to make changes to your .htaccess file at your servers root directory, make sure that you back up it before adding some code. Also remember to use # if you want to keep that line in comment.
After I rectified my mistake, I again validated my feed and this time it showed that my feed is 100% validated !!!! hurray….If you too had any experiences like this please share here.
