Tweak Send To Menu in Windows Vista or XP Customize Folder Shortcuts
My previous posts included tweaks on My Recent Documents and creating a folder without a name in Windows XP. Here is another simple trick that I frequently use in my Windows XP operating system.
When you need a file to paste in a frequently used folder, what you do is generally open a “My Computer” window and browse to the required folder.
The tip that I present here has two advantages.
The very first one is to save time in browsing the destination folder if you have many of such important ones that you use daily.
The other use is to open application files easily.
1. Copy and Paste files from Source to Destination Easily :
Usually you download some files in the Web browser and the default path to save your file will be Desktop. If you are a geek you would keep a separate folder for all the downloads. If it is a software that you downloaded, you would like to move that software file from the place where you have downloaded to, to the place where you usually store software ( a separate folder).
So all you need is to have shortcuts present in your “Send To” Menu.
Open “Start Menu”, choose “Run” type in “SendTo” and press “Enter”. This will open a window where the default “Send To” menu shortcuts are present.
You create shortcuts for all the folders that you use frequently.

Then as seen in this image transfer the files easily.
2. Open files in Applications:
Till now we saw how to transfer files to a particular folder using Send To menu. Using the same menu, you can open files in different applications. If you observe in the image there is a shortcut for Notepad++. If you want to edit .php files or .xml files select the file and choose the Notepad++ in the Send To menu. This will open the file in Notepad++ Window.
