How to import/transfer emails from Gmail Account to other Gmail
Gmail provides to facility to import emails from other accounts like Hotmail,Yahoo,…and to even into Gmail also.
Suppose you have newly created Gmail account,let us assume it as ‘Gmail_New’ and the old Gmail account as ‘Gmail_Old’.
Now you are going to import all the existing emails from Gmail_Old to Gmail_New
Follow these simple steps.
First of all check whether the following settings are proper in your Gmail Account that you intend to import from i.e in Gmail_Old
1.Go to ‘Settings’
2..Under Forwarding and POP/IMAP you should make sure that Status : ‘ POP is enabled for all mail ‘ .If not enable the status under ‘ POP Download ‘. Save the settings.
By default Status: POP is enabled for all mail.
Now instructions for Gmail_New:
1.Go to the ‘Accounts ‘ [if you are using Opera Browser]or ‘Accounts and Import ‘[for Firefox and Flock,Google Chrome] section in the Settings.
2.Go to ‘ Get mail from other accounts(download mail using POP3):’ .Click on ‘Add another mail account ‘.
3.You will see
Add a mail account you own
Enter the email address of the account to get mail from
(Note: You may add 5 more of your accounts)
in a popup window.
4.Now enter the email i.e Gmail_Old for importing emails and click ‘Next Step’.
5.As shown here choose the POP Server as ‘pop.gmail.com’ and other preferences as you like and then click ‘Add Account’.
6.Here you will be asked
You can now retrieve mail from this account.
Would you also like to be able to send mail as xxxxx@gmail.com.
Choose Yes or No as you want.and then simple steps that enables you for adding the email account.
One you add your account i’e Gmail_Old in your Gmail_New account,after sometime all your old emails will be transfered into your new account.
Note:
1.If you try to import via ‘ Import mail and contacts : Import from Yahoo!, Hotmail, AOL, or other webmail or POP3 accounts.’ for importing Gmail E-Mails,you will end up without proceeding as it wont let you to import from Gmail.
