Ten Rupee Coins in India New Rs 10 Mints
The new Indian 10 rupee coins
After the recent announcement of new 7.71 grams 10 rupee coins in March 2009,I had seen the coins today for the first time.
Also the new 5 Rupee coins are also nice with a change in the thickness and in the diameter.
At first the people thought that the 10 rupee coin release is a rumour in February.But then in March 26,Reserve Bank Of India confirmed the release of the ten rupee coins.
Coming to the design part,
Obverse :
This face of the coin is divided into three portions. The centre portion shall bear the “Lion Capitol” of Ashoka Pillar with the legend “mel³ecesJe pe³eles” inscribed below and the prominent international Numerals “10″ indicating the denomination.
The top portion contains word “Yeejle” in Hindi and “India” in English. The bottom portion contains the year in International Numerals.
Reverse :
This face of the coin contains the visuals showing stylised representation of “Unity in Diversity”, a defining characteristic of our country. The symbol shall be seen as four heads sharing a common body. It shall be thought of as people from all four parts of the country coming together under one banner and identifying with one nation. The visual code helps the user connect the visual with an individual denomination, which makes the process of identification quicker. The left upper periphery contains the words ” ome ©he³es ” in Hindi and “Ten Rupees” in English.
