Bloggers Flood Relief Fund

google buzz Bloggers Flood Relief Fund

This is not a tech-post. Many of the readers are aware of the recent floods in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and in other parts of India.

With those floods, the livelihood of the residents at the places got disturbed. They lost their properties, and many people even lost their lives. The holy cities Mantralayam and Alampur in Andhra Pradesh are completely drowned.

Karnataka and Andhra governments estimated that nearly 12,0000 crore is the loss due to the floods in each of these states. Prime Minster Mr. Manmohan Singh declared this incident as a National calamity.

And the important point to mention in this post is the relief activities that were carried out in the flood affected areas are really amazing. Many volunteers came from all parts of the country to save the people from the flood.

Many rehabilitation centers were set up to arrange food, water and shelter to them. The media took an active part in serving the basic amenities to the flood affected people. Mainly TV9, Sakshi TV and iNews are the three channels in AP that started collecting flood relief funds from the rich. Even now each and every individual who saw the visual of the flood affected areas in the media are trying their best and are coming forward to donate at least some amount from their pocket.

My only concern is why there isn’t any bloggers association for collecting flood relief funds.  I advice every blogger to make a donation. Not to boast of my self, I made Rs 1000 /- (approximately $ 22). This amount is nothing for a five or six digit online income earner. But it is worthy for a needy.

There are several ways to make a donation.

  1. Send your donations in the form of a Cheque or Demand Draft to “Prime Ministers Relief Fund”
  2. To “Chief Minister’s Relief Fund”
  3. To the nearby media offices like TV9, CNN-IBN. There are several local and national channels present in India.
  4. Direct help in the form of volunteers.

Ways to make collect money to the bloggers.

  1. Pledge banner for collecting.
  2. PayPal donations buttons.

My humble request to those bloggers who are willing to collect the funds using Pledge or PayPal donations method(from blogs and websites) see to the extent that the collected money should reach the needy in a right way and there should not be any scams in that.

May it be Indonesian Tsunami, Typhoons or Indian Floods, take an initiative to donate something to the affected people.

These are my views and opinions regarding the bloggers relief fund.

Right now it is not possible for me. If my blog has a huge readership, I would have kept a Paypal donation button which helps to make a minimum amount from the kindhearted.
