Have you forgotten your Windows Vista or Windows XP administrator password? Remembering passwords is sometimes difficult. Usually you try as many trials as you can[Brute Force method]. But at last all the trails will go in vain. Then how can you recover the password easily. Ophcrack is an open source project that helps you indeed.

Ophcrack is a free Windows password cracker based on rainbow tables. It is a very efficient implementation of rainbow tables done by the inventors of the method. I have already discussed on the way how most of the Operating systems store the password.

There is no need to know much about the background process for a newbie.  Ophcrack   program starts by itself, locates the Windows user accounts, and takes steps in recovering (cracking) the passwords – every thing will be done  automatically. This is a good method and is equally as easy as changing the password using a USB bootable Windows OS.
